Every Night: A Ghazal - Poem by Waseem A Malla

Every wound of heart extends a little deep every night,
Pangs of death & of pain, hush up my sleep every night;

Miles & miles lie ahead of me before I depart,
I mind every promise I ought to keep, every night;

Tears pour like drops of rain every hour of day,
Moistening its soil into my soul, they seep, every night,

Memories of the moment each of us parted ways:
Nightmares of it- they make me leap, every night;

They boast of innocence & bask in warmth of sin,
Over my sin of innocence, I repent & weep, every night;

Tell your memories to stay away from this ailing being,
To ensure its torment, into my spirit they peep, every night;

To rejuvenate my stone cold tearful eyes, I burn,
Each of their dreams, on (of woods) a heap, every night;

Into my heart, seeds of love blossom flowers of sorts,
Into my being, Waseem, only thorns I reap, every night.
