everyday rhythm

every day
we get incarcerated
by the unalterable
din of barren words
entombed by
sterile thoughts…

every day
we wade through
vacant, wily smiles
hollow tears
impeding intellect…

every day
the trillion hidden thorns
on the apathetic invisible
pathways prick at the pores
painting the feet
blood red

and

every night
we lick our wounds
to begin
yet another everyday
to stray
to stumble
to sink
in the swamp
of myriad expectations
with impetuous vigor
