Everyone Has A Family

A man got told he had a year to live
He had no family so he thought he wouldn't be missed So he thought he would be kind when he wrote his will
He even put money In a envelope to cover the funeral bill
He worked so hard and had a lot of wealth
If only money could be the cure for his failing health

The man started to go to the homeless shelter to donate his money and time
He gave them advice and encourage them to not to commit any crime
He gave them his number and told them to call him when ever they needed to
He told them he would always be there for them and they knew that was true

He then went to animal shelters to see how he could help
He cared more about helping people than he did about his self.
No one knew this man before
He was someone who they now adored

They liked he helped out at any where he could
He would do anything that made him feel good
He would go to visit people who was dying like him
He kept his cheerfulness while keeping his secret within
He knew when it was his final day
His funeral was planned his way
No one even knew his name
No one knew he was dying in pain
All the people who he helped came to say there goodbye

Everyone had a tear in there eye Over 1000 people was there
They told him how much they care
They wanted to thank him for evey thing he done
And it meant so much to everyone
They wanted to tell him he now had a family
Without them realising how much he made everyone happy
He may have only been 46
He was someone who would be missed

They all promised never to forget this man
Who later found out his name was Stan
50 years later he still had fresh flowers on his grave
He was known for being kind and brave

Everyday people came to his grave to say Hello
They stayed for a long time not wanting to go
People didn't spend their Christmases at home
They spent it with Stan so he was never alone
Stan meant so much to them
Just like they meant the world to him

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I wrote this poem because I wanted to tell a storey through poetry and I wanted to write about how someone who was alone who had no family touched the lives off so many people and family isn't by blood its by the people who care.
This story isn't a true story its something I made up.

poet John Clare

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
