Everything You Were To Me Poem by mona martinez

Everything You Were To Me

you were my rock,
my best friend,
not a day go by,
that i don't think of you,
as days continue to pass,
i still have good memories,
of all of the fun times,
we had together,
always laughing, playing and joking around,
sometimes i miss those days,
but it's ok,
i know you watching from above,
with a smile on your face,
cheering me on every day of the week,
you were my mother,
it don't get no better than that,
you were a great mom,
one who was always there when i needed you,
one to put me back in my place,
when i was roaming a little free,
you were somebody who understands me,
and did your best to make sure i was happy,
what more could i had ask for?
you were everything and more,
you fought my battles,
when i was too afraid to fight them,
you raised me be a strong proud woman,
and to fight for what i believe in,
it no wonder ppl get mad at my stuborness,
they can't handle it,
when a girl has a mind of her own,
but even though you are not here,
i know everyday you are walking beside me,
making sure i am safe on my jorney through life.

Dear Mona, Your words brought tears to my eyes. It pains my heart to hear your loss. Keep writing about your feelings in living color. Turn your pain and longing for your mother to pieces of art. A poet always feel close to their words... praying that you will find consoling in many forms, ncluding poetry and writing.
