Excavating Me Poem by Sarah Martens

Excavating Me

Rating: 3.8

Am I gone
Am I gone
have u been successful
in excavating every blissful memory
of us

do you remember the red balloon
is it gone too?

I didn’t realize it was so harmful
Just a happy thought in a café
Cheered you up that day

instigating your sorrow every time we talk
every instant you look at me
wounded expressions break through

no more sorries
they don’t mean anything
anymore

begotten memories
coming back to me

the sweetness in our broken friendship lost…
