Existence. Poem by Larisa Marie Davis

Existence.

I exist only to know you
to breathe you
to witness your life

Only to channel your thoughts
to dwell in the shadows of the
person you become

My existence depends not on the circumstances
of the darkness that may envelop my life
But the honor and privilege
to grace your presence

You make me worthy
not of Purple Hearts and fame
But in the simpler, uncontrasted
ways,
You give me strength to do the impossible
give me hope to experience the unthinkable
you give meaning to my seemingly
aimless existence

I breathe air you breathe
I think thoughts you think
I long to feel more than honor in being with you

But I live in your shadows
I exist only to know you
to breathe you
to witness your life.
