Extending Summer Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Extending Summer

Remember to water the remaining
potted flowers that are still blooming
The occasional rain is not enough
to satisfy…so don't go on assuming

Turn your back on them and they will parish
Ignoring essential needs will prove to be deadly
With a conscious effort life can be prolonged...
blooms will continue to inspire a colorful medley

All to soon the cold nights will steal away warmth
There won't be a chance to resuscitate or revive
As long as the weather keeps the bees a buzzing…
your devotion will keep the fragrant flowers alive

Your efforts will boost moral and continue to amaze
Rewarding you with an extenuation of summer days
