Extravagance Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

Extravagance

Rating: 5.0

All extravagance spells not necessarily waste
Could all celebrations be condemned bad taste?
Sometimes it illuminates afterwards a joyous past
A link that enlivens yesterdays, todays, tomorrows
Something blessed like the scent profusely poured upon Jesus
Union of bodies and souls: isn't it to be accompanied by zest hilarious?
The eloquent ‘hosannas' keep ringing despite the later shouts murderous
When passion mounts, could lovers stop at just one kiss?
When awe overwhelms him; how can the devotee stop at a few mantras?
What else can a mother do but smother her little darling with warm hugs and kisses?
Is n't nature herself extravagant in her ways magnificent?
'Look at the lilies in the field.....birds in the sky'
