Faces Of My Past Poem by Svanhildur Njálsdóttir

Faces Of My Past

I see the faces of my past
Walking around like me or you
I see the things that didn't last
People I've never met but always knew

I threw my world to the wind,
And see my self in its dust
I'm pretending I never sinned
Lying is easy but truth is a must

If I die tonight I prey
That you will not cry for me
In my coffin I will lay
Dead to a world i will never see

I work hard to bare the burden on my back
Doing the best I can not to scream
Day by day goes by with no slack
And every night I sleep with no dream

More faces walk by me everyday
Different lives in destiny set
I will never know what to say
To people I've always knew but never met
