Facing The World Again Poem by courtney metcalf

Facing The World Again

You say if I was to walk into your kitchen, the photo magnet of us from prom would still be hanging on the fridge
That all of the pictures of me and you, are still in your phone, and you just keep them hid
You say you wish she was me sometimes
That you should have never left
That she is just temporary but I'll always be the best
You say what you want, but I'll say what I know
She is just as I was, yet soon you'll ask her to go
You'll break her spirit down, then draw her right back in
You'll kiss her until she doesn't feel broken, and then you'll do it all again
You'll repeat the process untill it hurts, and you'll refuse to let her leave
Though you act like you couldn't care less about her,
Until she tries to flee
You'll ignore her for months until you realize she's moved on
Then you'll pick back up where you left off,
Making everything that's finally starting to go right, go wrong
You won't let her know that you're with somebody new
You'll pull her into the same bed, and for a minute she'll feel as if you're at her rescue
Because she's been lonely for months,
Heartbroken and torn apart over you
She couldn't breath, she couldn't sleep, she couldn't even hold down her food
But here you are with a false sense of dedicated, unbroken love
Like you've been feeling the same,
And now you're ready to make up
So she gives herself to you yet another time
Unaware that the sheets she crawls under, are the ones you drape over your coniving lies
She finds out, the pain hits twice as hard as it did before
She screams at you, shoving you away as she runs to the door
But this was not the first time he had ever done this
He's good at making every girl feel like she is worthless
He'll tell you that you're just another, and he will be right
You'll be so angry, though its not an argument to fight
It is the truth
You were a stupid girl
Now woman up, get over it, and try to face the world
