Faded Dreams. Poem by dave lessard

Faded Dreams.

When I looked into your soul,
blinded by those lovely eyes;
I knew what love was like,
I think I smiled and sighed.

My poor heart beat faster,
with anticipated glee;
that you'd reciprocate,
and share your love with me.

You smiled, and I was lost,
by the emotion I could feel;
by a silly, startling notion,
that this wasn't really real.

But then, you took my hand,
said you're name was Nancy;
could you read my thoughts?
that you had grabbed my fancy?

I took you in my waiting arms,
like I'd ached to for so long;
but then you faded in my clutch,
and like that, my dream was gone.
