Fading Poem by Cain XXX

Fading

somewhere along the road,
It got lost.

fading, fading,
till It's but a wisp
of an abstract memory.
i cannot hold on to It
what was It called?
i cannot remember
It's name
though It was all
i lived for.

was It called colours?
then now i am blind.
stretched out,
the canvas now is
black, white, black, white, grey.

or was It called music?
i am now deaf.
the symphony is this
endless, monotonous,
beep
i cannot bear.

nay, it was called Love, wasn't it?
then now i am heartless
little by little
like dripping acid
You have corroded away at my heart
so i can no longer feel
no longer love
am no longer human.

No.
now i remember.
It had many names.
Colour, Music, Pain, Joy, Sorrow, Pleasure, Anger, Love, Hope, Dark, Light...
Life.

that which You sucked out of me
so i am
dry, empty,
existing but no longer alive.

where is It?
what have
You done with It?

be merciful,
invincible, unstoppable, everlasting
Time.

return It.
that which is
Mine.
