Fake Smile Poem by Alyssa Ray

Fake Smile

Rating: 5.0

He's hurting
I put my hood up and go towards him
My heart pumping, worring only about him
I ask him what's the matter
He says nothing and puts on a fake smile
Just for me
So I could see nothing
He forgets
I have a glitch
I see what he can't
I tell him not to put that on for me
He flinches
The pain is overwhelming
I put my hand on his shoulder
And tell him he'll be okay
I only say this
Because I want him to be okay
Only praying for this
Just hoping
Another fake smile
I let this one go
Only because it's for my sake
He leaves
I nod
And return to my normal self
Not my caring-protective me
But me
I still watch him
Hoping he would read the message
In my head
Saying
I love you

Just hoping Another fake smile I let this one go Only because it's for my sake ...very womanly thinking....liked it, anyway
