Fake Smile Poem by Weldon Davis

Fake Smile

My heart hurts
From your fake smile
I can see right through you
Come stay a while
In my thoughts
I got a place picked out for you
So glad you bought
This lovely space in my head
Love is for suckers
I used to love
Now I hate instead

I see ya fake smile
You shrug at my embrace
Ya want ya cake and eat it too
Ya want somebody in my place
Have it
Have it all
All the things ya ever wanted
Just know when ya fall
I won't be there to save ya
Shelter ya protect ya
Or go the extra mile
Maybe you'll find
Someone who can't see
Behind that fake smile
Like I used to
Like I do now
