Falling For A Friend Poem by Svanhildur Njálsdóttir

Falling For A Friend

Burn the roots
but keep the roses
Treat the wound
but keep the scar

Fall from love
but keep the friendship
Free the doves
but keep the cage

Lock the door
but keep the key
Lose the pain
but keep the memory

Kill the the heart
but keep the arrow
Discard the card
but keep the value

Blind the eyes
but keep the vision
hide the hate
but keep the sorrow

Burn the roots
but keep the roses

Wow, striking. I don't think I've come across your works before, I'm glad I've discovered you. I think we've all fallen for a friend at some point in life, but you've expressed it so well. Beautiful writing.
