Falling Into Spring Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

Falling Into Spring

Rating: 5.0

Silver wisps of clouds fill the firmament this day
.....Much as a grey salient sea
As i search for the blue of the deep aqua
That once transported a very weary me.

The wind chill cuts sharp as a blade
Piercing the exposed flesh of my being
Leafless trees stand in their stark nudity
The end of Fall is all that i am seeing.

A death float of leaves soon scatter to & fro
Out of line, dried brittle and breaking
'Neath a firmament of silver to dark grey
Alas, leaving my body and heart truly aching.

Too soon Winter will tip his hat to the Earth
While covering it with blanket's of white
Always with the silver wisps and darker grey clouds
Ever erasing the Suns brilliant warm light.

Wintering bodies prepare to hibernate
Pantries are stocked to the max
In preparation for the Arctic's opening door
As many are readied for this chilling attack.

Inside a fire is crackling as it warms
The fireplace hearth is where to be
Perhaps right below it on a bear skin rug
Awaiting the dawn of Spring Tides pastel tapestry.

Piercing the exposed flesh of my being
Leafless trees stand in their stark nudity
The middle to the end of Fall is what i am seeing.

A death float of leaves soon scatter to & fro
Out of line, dried brittle and breaking
'Neath a firmament of silver to growing darker grey
Alas, leaving my body and heart truly breaking.

Too soon Winter will tip his hat to the earth
As he covers it with blankets of white
Yet, still with the silver-dark grey wisps of clouds
Ever erasing the suns brilliant warm light.

Wintering bodies prepare to hibernate
While pantries are stocked to the max
In preparation for the Arctic's opening door
As many are readied for it's chilling attack.

Inside a fire is crackling as it warms
The fireplace hearth is, indeed, where to be
Perhaps right below it upon a bear skin rug
Awaiting the Dawn of Spring tides pastel tapestry.

I'm not sure what I am seeing here- - one poem recounting the cycle of seasons which would be very clever, my dear- - or 2 versions of the same poem, I waver between the two just like a fickle season would. This I can say for sure- -you can write lines that have a punch and deliver a message or two quite poetically. Gorgeous- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Too soon Winter will tip his hat to the earth As he covers it with blankets of white Dead on- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A death float of leaves soon scatter to & fro Out of line, dried brittle and breaking Cutting to the Quick- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Leafless trees stand in their stark nudity The middle to the end of Fall is what i am seeing. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -SO WELL WRITTEN
