Falling Like The Leaves Poem by Brittany D. Gay

Falling Like The Leaves

I fell in love one summer’s day,
In love all by myself

I fell; I fell from clouds above,
No stopping on the way

And the one I loved sits idly by,
Watching as I fall

I should not feel sad, or hurt right now,
For it was me and no one else

I understand pain when hearts are torn,
But whole ones I cannot see

For if ones heart stays whole; a sadden pain,
I cannot believe

I chose to fall, and fall I did, no stick did beat me,
Nor a dagger to my head

The leaves they fell; I wonder why? For love or because,
They are dead

I fall just like the leaves that fall, I fall to my untimely death,
Just like the leaves; I fall.
