Falling Snow Poem by Evelyn Macdonald

Falling Snow

Rating: 5.0

Falling snow is beautiful
pristine, soft and white
a gentle flowing mantle
reflecting nature's light

Icy teardrops congregate
cling to bough and vine
multi-faceted diamonds
glitter, sway and shine

Snowflakes on a frosted lake
become an artists dream
blanketing the silent dell
with perfect winter scene

Skies of heavy laden snow
will surely fall but soon
draping ghostly branches
silhouetted by the moon

The precious jewels of winter
are treasures rich and rare
the glories of the season
are there for all to share

Beauty all around to see
tiny seeds have sown
snowdrops soon will lift their heads
and flowers will be grown

Falling snow is beautiful
both peaceful and serene
holds promises of spring time
from white to budding green.

Your poem describes falling snow so well here with a great natural flow. You have painted a lovely picture for us. An enjoyable read. I too have written a poem about the snow called, 'Snowscene' if you care to read it. Spiritsong

You certainly undersell yourself by saying your not a poet. This is an excellent poem written by an accomplished poet. Where I live we don't experience snow yet you describe the experience as well as I can imagine.

Well, for someone who claims they are not a poet, Evelyn, you should take a good look in the mirror, because you indeed are a poet! This poem is as fine or better than most poems I have seen on this poetic site, and though it does not maintain a consistent syllable count, it was clearly written by someone who has a good knowledge of how poetry works. It is a very positive, upbeat, and cheerful write and is exceptionally well expressed in every verse. Carl.
