Fame Poem by James Osumo

Fame

They say he was famous
He that owned the shiny gold,
And the sparkling diamonds
For his gold and diamonds made him great.

They say he was famous,
He that owned the dirty oil,
And expansive barren land,
For his oil and land made him great.

They say he was famous
He that killed millions
And destroyed all that lay in his way
For his destruction and killing made him great.

They say he was famous
He that read the books
And wrote many
For his reading and writing made him great.

They say he was great
He that conquered many lands
And reigned over all with an iron fist
For his conquests and iron fisted reign made him great.

They say he was famous
He that was peaceful
And tolerant
For peace and tolerance made him great.

They say he was famous
He that lived promiscuously
And wastefully
For his promiscuity and wastefulness made him great.

They say he was famous
He that preached in chastity
And taught justice to all
For his chastity and justice made him great.

They say he was famous
He that endured strain
And won fastest races
For his endurance and speed made him famous

They say he was famous
He who sang the sweetest tunes
And most soothing lyrics
For his music made him great

Like two sides of a coin
Good and bad is fame
Many and few is fame
Tall and short is fame
Big and small is fame
Whatever your choice it is still fame.
