A history of disappointing excuses,
late arrivals, no-shows and quick exits
leaves a long trail
of heartache and resentment.

But thoughtless abuses come to an end
when the soup boils and there is no escape;
a decision made finds its voice and
creates a completely different landscape.

One more family drama plays itself out
in the only resolution;
let the chips fall where they may
or be damned to repeat it day after day.
