Fantasy Child Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Fantasy Child

Rating: 5.0

Childhoods fantasy dreams
Long gone yet still there
Deep in the recesses of subconscious thought
Fire-fighter maybe astronaut
So vivid within the grasp
Sleep bringing the adventures
Moulding the adult
Fighting life and its many dragons
Fearless of the flames
Plumbing the depths of earths inner core
Exploration without barriers
Risks taken without the danger
Oblivious to the surroundings
Onwards the pursuit of accomplishment beckons
Eyes flicker behind their hoods
Facial expressions changing
Twitches and limb movements
Body taken over by the dream
Wealth and happiness the goal
Always to be achieving
Other times grieving
Never perceiving
In reality in sleep, we are the child again
Safe in the fantasy
