Farnsworth House And Falling Water Poem by gershon hepner

Farnsworth House And Falling Water

Mies van der Rohe––Mies, not Mouse––
built the famous Farnsworth House;
Frank Lloyd Wright, whose name’s not shorter,
built fabulously Falling Water,
icons of two architects,
to which nobody objects.
Yet work that’s even more ennobling
is that which Emily Warren Roebling
completed, helping her to link
two boroughs. I’ll not waste more ink,
except to mention one less scary,
a concert hall built by Frank Gehry,
with Disney funds and Lily gilding
that helped to bring to life this building.

Inspired by an interview of Paul Goldberger by Charlie Rose on December 30,2009.He said that his favorite two builkdings were Falling Water and the Farnsworth House, but added that his favorite places in New York included the Brooklyn Bridge, the Guggenheim Museum and many streets, especially Central Park West.
