Darkness sets upon this night
As the creeping moon is rising
The resonating sounds of silence
Cry out to those who seek
The companionship of shadows.

A deep vast endless vacuum
Of the blackened out day.
They are sucked into an existence
Where darkness looms over them
Cradling them, and blankets them with security.

Released from the mares that haunt the mind
Taken in by the shielding shadows of the dark,
They are embellished with life anew
Away from the solitude reaped
By the scars of wounds that bite.

In the ultimate playground of discontent,
In a locked asylum of euphoria,
Under the unending veil of darkness
Do they smile and frolic
Soothed by the kiss of night.

So feel the night, black as coal
And soft as velvet, beneath your fingertips
The sun has set, leaving us with memories
Of a neon sunset that shocked the sky
with colour, only to let the colour die

A clandestine night cloud waves by
Like a magician's hand to reveal
The pearl sitting amidst the night
Pastel colours beneath a diamond studded sky
Trading places with creeping shadows.

Cries cut through the cool crisp air
And excite the darkness with wild imaginings
Lining their walls with joyous despair
And disappointed tragedies
Bleeding darkness across the endless ceiling

So feel the night, black as coal
And soft as velvet, beneath your fingertips….
