Feeling God's Love Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Feeling God's Love

The clock strikes midnight
and something comes to me unexpectedly
'Count Your Blessings! ' words of my grandmother
come back to me

She was a faithful lady
So kind she always was to me
So gracious and so kind in things she said
She made me smile and turn red

'Every Pot Has a Lid'
she said that too
and she smiled as she did
Just the thing to say to a lovelorn kid!

But the thing that made me remember
is something about this Holy Week
and I've tried to guide some to something missing
and inside I have a sense of what it is they seek

God is present every day
I see and feel him certain in my own way
and I surely did through her uplifting words today
I let him in and tried not to push him away

His message brings me understanding and grace
I'm reminded that his message has a place
in lives that feel otherwise hollow and void of Love
He brings hope and peace and forgiveness as white as a dove

So I try to spread a little of his love
A love I feel more and more inside
and to those who need someone to confide
I try to be a friend whose honest and is on their side

Tonight was like that in many ways
for me otherwise another weary day
but I feel good this moment I must say
since her voice came my way....

'Count Your Blessings'....just as I heard her say
and there is no greater blessing
to help someone on the mend
than the blessing of a friend

As Simon helped Jesus to carry his cross
and Mary Magdalene wiped the blood from his weary face
This lesson comes across in the passion plays
That human kindness is a blessing; someone's saving grace
