# fide et amore

last evening around the same time
in a nondescript corner of the earth
a shabbily wrapped bunch of roses
you placed in my hands resurrected
hope that smiled as never before…

the bunch traveled with me hundreds of miles
as my only companion reassuring me of
respect
trust
faith
warmth
and love
that’s the hall mark of being human

reaching home i place the bunch in a small
container of water mixed with salt and sugar…

each time i look at the roses
they connect me to the first
smile and that glint in the eyes
that we exchanged amid
the hooting of passing trains

wither, they may
yet the heart that bloomed
at that moment of magic
remains forever blooming

come again my love
in faith and love

just for once…
