Fighting The Big Wall Poem by RIC BASTASA

Fighting The Big Wall

you tell me that your son
was mauled
by police officers
and you find him
in our arms
spitting blood
almost dead

the twist of your
story is
unforgettable

you are looking for
a lawyer to
defend yourself?

i am outraged.
give me my comfort bag
i am about
to vomit.

i am driving my car tonight
i do not turn on the radio

i want to kill the silence
of the common people.
