Final Poem by Cailea Lester

Final

Heart race,
Always losing;
Get back up,
What are you doing?
One more time,
It will be your last;
Can't wait no more,
The moment won't pass.

Always too old,
Simply too young.
Hold your breath,
Bite your tongue.
You'll never beat it,
Just stop trying.
One more cut,
Soon you'll be dying.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I found this written on a bloody piece of paper, tucked into a pile of papers I had in the hospital during my stay on a psych ward after trying to kill myself. Apparently I wrote it during my overdose and didnt remember. It was found crumpled in my hand in the ambulance.
