Final Goodbyes Poem by Achim Wollscheid

Final Goodbyes

and i know of such a brokenness...
she stood there at the corner
just like any other day.
we left with our casual farewells exchanged.
i never thought she'd be gone for good,
and absent from my life.
that i'd be lacking her presence,
and she'd be flooding my mind.
i lay in my bed
bellowing the burdens of my heart,
but the words that i yelled couldn't heal the hurt.
i remember she was at the corner...
just like any other day,
but in a moment she went away.

and now i see the sweethearts stand at the corner
where the train station is...
holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes.
there are tears falling down her face,
and his brows are furrowed in severe distaste.
they struggle and try to choke out goodbyes,
but this word is not the easiest to say
especially when you realize you'll soon go different ways.
but this love, it actually shows.
these people here, thankfully they know.
hopefully they don't make the same mistake as i,
'cause there exists the possibility
that this may be their last goodbye.
