Finding Strength Poem by Amanda Edwards

Finding Strength

If you have read my other poem you know that my relationship with my father is more than a little rocky. My mother and I haven't seen him in five years. Well not intentionally, what I mean by that is that we do have the unfortunate occasion of running into him. The last was quite a show. It's embarrassing and unfortunate, but hey what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I love my mom. She gives me strength, and inspires me. This poem was written with her in mind, because I’ am not the only that had to suffer.

We’ll be strong,
And we’ll rejoice,
For the choices,
You have made,
And all the wrongs,
Will be no longer,
Made,
Forgiveness,
You will not get,
Nor no respect,
Concern,
Will not be felt,
You are a leech,
Of many deceits,
Father,
What you were supposed to be,
Now we have our much needed PEACE!

i believe the words of Elisabeth Kübler -People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.......go ahead Amanda...great poem out of wounded feelings.....1000 fathers can not equal one mother...great poem...love it..keep writing
