Fire Poem by Thomas Foreman

Fire

For the children in wait,
How they yearn to see
Molten to memory,
How they strive to be

To hold your arms to the sky
As a tree, its branches
As a flower, its leaves

Traced to the scent of wet earth
Being caught in sweet breath,
Blessed in rebirth

You dream yourself,
Awake to sleep
Your skin hidden,
Beneath the shell of another

Peeled back by celestial flame
Falling away,
Beneath the soil deep

Fertile fields,
Crested in green
Once harvested,
Again to be seen

Remember the fire within,
That unfurls new skin
Invariant motions,
A sweet welcomes attend
Movements of clouds,
Of earths spin
Golden hearts of another world,
Again to begin

Beneath your eyes, carried afar
Dancing away the mind,
Adrift as a tranquil star
Thoughts stilled in might,
Arisen alive, set a bright

Smile your dreams to fly,
Set loose, intricate in interlace
Once held under brow,
No longer in place
