First Impression Poem by Kevin Moore

First Impression

shining far from me her inner beauty

radiates a challenge to the sun and moon

combined – beauty such as I have never

known (so evident my blindness to me

now!) - and overwhelms that empty space between

the place where I, in awe, am sitting and the world

she occupies. Her laughter lifts my soul

and fills my heart to overflowing; as

though embraced by living fire filled with life

I laugh along until she turns and looks

at me and I am powerless to turn

away from her acceptance and her warmth…

I long to know her fire in my soul.
