Fixing Broken Pieces Poem by Jewel Edwards

Fixing Broken Pieces

Rating: 4.5

I say im 'okay.'
When Really I'm Br'ok'en.

The life that I live.
Ain't smiles and jokin'.

My laughter is fake.
Cuz' inside im being S'laughter'ed.

For goodness sakes where is my father?
Not my father that's earthly.
But my father above.

The one that supposedly loves me and stuff.
That one that gave his life for me.
On something called Calvary.

This guy who is perfect.
Never done a thing wrong.
Who preaches some Gospel.
And sings his own song.

He says when your broken.
I'll make you okay.
I'll bandage you up.
And send you on your way.

But not by yourself.
Because I'll lead the way.
Amd I'll keep you from ever.
Wnndering astray.

I'll love you, and watch you.
Protect you and help you.
I'll feed you, and hug you.
I'll do everything for you.

But the key to this whole gift thing is.
I have to accept him.
And give him my heart.
I have to actually play a small part.

I need to be humble, willing, and sharp.
I have to find him.
And want him as well.
The gift is free for me.
But he payed the price well.

He bled and died.
Was spit on and crused at.
Not a word did he say.
Except for 'Father, forgive them.'

They say that this story is true to the core.
And nothing makes him love me less, or more.
He doesn't hate me. He hates the sin I commit.
But he really just wants.
To forgive and forget.

So I have decided ton take this chance.
I mean what could it hurt?
I've run out of plans.

Fix my broken pieces.
Make me anew.
Make my smile real.
And my laughter too.

Take my heart, and my will, and also my life.
Remold me, remake me, and show me the light.
Set me on fire.
Like a star in the sky.

Let me spread your story.
Let me live your life.
Let me be a witness, for all to see.
That true happiness is hidden.
Within thee.

Let me show the world.
What you did.
How you love everybody.
No matter the size of their sin.

Give me the Spirit.
Let me be a disciple.
Clear my mind of all things.
But not of the bible.

Give me memory like Jews.
And a heart like Enoch.
Give me strength in your name.
And open my eyes.
Let me come closer to you.
Throught all time.

Never leave me.
For without you.
I have no more worth.
Than a sole-less shoe.

This is my prayer.
Oh please do answer.
I have faith in you.
Yes, faith in my Master.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was a poem/story. Talking about an anonymous person who was lacking faith in a God, Savior, etc. They were going through hard times, and finally decided to give their heart to God. The ending should be read as a prayer.. (:

I read the whole poem as a prayer, not just the ending. Great work. One small thing: on the first line of verse seven, you should change YOUR to YOU'RE. Thanks for sharing this with us.
