Fleur-De-Lis Poem by Victoria Annette Bailey

Fleur-De-Lis

She wants to swim with the dolphins
But she's scared of the ocean
Gripping onto hope by a thread,
Watching the mirror
Reflect her beliefs
Leaving potential unsaid.
Determined she's unworthy
Living in static
And loathing the wings that she binds,
Destroying the future
In modesty and hate
Pretence making way for closed minds.
Convinced of reality
But indifference is cold
Perfection hides under despise,
Unaware of her talents
Her esteem suppressed
Living in her selfless disguise.
