It was midday
The sun stood overhead
A burning sphere of luminosity!
But she saw the frozen face of death
And the nocturnal bats in gyrating motion
Meteors of shame and repugnance
Flashed past her darkened sky,
Cockroaches scurried in her brain,
All the nerves taut and about to break
Her heart bleeding in silence
And her body burning, burning
Agony once subsided, surged back
Stronger than ever before
Unable to bear the burden anymore
Finding no water to wash away her guilt,
With no contrition enough to ease
The twinge of her conscience,
She drew out a piece of paper
From her locked up cupboard
Which she would never open again
And hastily scribbled something
Without qualms
Without frills
Never waiting for another day
Of impotent remorse,
She set out to a destination unknown
Where Past, Present and Future
Merge and coalesce
Into
The muted whispers of stillness
Or
Timelessness!
A sad poem indeed Valsa - such a man is not worth dying for. Very powerful write.
Suicide is one of the issues that needs to be voiced as much as possible. This write brings out the devastating effects of this act. It can be bought about by various feelings of guilt, fear, old age, grief illness or whatever the list can go on and on. A very poignant and thought provoking write.
Pat.. How shall I thank you for your series of great comments?
So sad, she could have given herself a little bit time, time heals everything: (
A woman lured by a man in order to satisfy her and wishes got remorse and contrition as the man deceived her. Finally this repugnance took her to a destination unknown where Past, Present and Future merge and coalesce into the muted whispers of stillness. A heartrending depiction has been made. This is really a beautiful poem on suicide and death.10
