Flight Of Fancy Poem by Jasbir Chatterjee

Flight Of Fancy

Rating: 3.5

The moon grew dimmer and dimmer,
Its night shift over...
In preparation for handover
To the hot, summer Sun,
Its day shift about to begin...
With a heavy heart, a weary soul, and an anxious mind
I watched,
As the moon changed into its day time clothes,
Bringing me closer and closer to the unpleasant task ahead...

Suddenly an eagle appeared in the sky and soared higher and higher
Gracefully into the wide open sky,
In celebration of being alive,
Triumphant, hopeful, joyful, blissful,
Its day shift about to begin...
With butterflies in my stomach, goose pimples on my skin, and an ecstatic soul,
I watched as the eagle flew above me in the wide open sky,
Lifting me up from the morass of life I had fallen into...
