Tracey Marquart
Flight to the Empyrean
My eyes awaken as I depart this sacred source
So a journey begins and my ship sets course.
Considered only as a temporary divorce
Ultimately guided by a supreme force.
Sailing on an ocean of white with civilization below
I observe the vastness the suns circle doth glow.
The waves thrust my ship to and fro
Destination Elysium I do know.
A turbulent voyage up and down
Leading my galleon to the crown.
There will not be a single frown
For my destination is that Arcadian town.
Triumphs and defeats are not clearly known
The rage of the storm has thus been thrown.
A lesson to be taught or even shown
To lead me to that heavenly throne.
Calm waters once again extol
The masts become hoisted and whole.
Allowing my ship to gently stroll
To that Utopian village within my soul.
As my eyes close I start to ascend
For my journey as come to an end.
Before me a parade I must attend
Amongst all those I call a friend.
