Floating Poem by Alex Fischer

Floating

Hanging high above the sea
Moving with the eastern breeze
Yet I am frozen, and I can see
The life that leads on the world of me

The sun beats down upon my head
Birds of prey circle me wondering if I am dead
What is this place to that I have been lead?
From the safety of my bed

Floating lazily high above the Earth
I see on many different kinds of birth
As I am high above this world and girth
Having nothing but simple mirth

In the clouds that dwell in the sky
I float amongst them ever so high
Hoping that maybe I'll have a chance to fly
Around the world that is so nigh

So as I fly high in the blue
I wonder about all the things I can do
If they can be done and which I would chose
And if they were needed what skills I would use

Floating, floating, ever floating
I look at the ground and its special coating
Thinking of why I am here and all the doting
Feeling lonely wanting to have some kind of baiting

Hanging high above the cloud
World is engulfed by an army of shroud
Swirling round, swirling round
Suddenly I an falling to the ground

No longer floating high above
As I fall I pass a dove
Falling, falling to the trove
Wanting to scream yet no voice will rove

Strongly slamming 'gainst solid sand
My body harshly hits the rough land
I lay here stunned by the impact unable to even slightly twitch my own hand
Not knowing if I will ever be able to stand

Laying around upon the ground
Finally some strength returns to me and I can
Move around and see where I am
Searching for a familiar sight in this land

Finding a place I can live and stay
Maybe for a few more days
Here in this place to live in a way
Where I can float again in a few more days
