Floating Fire Poem by Ombuge M Moses

Floating Fire

By Ombuge Moses

I saw the black substance
Down the river floating
Water darkening
As it went by

People wakened
Ran by
Poverty to succumb
Fetching the floats
Suddenly to succumb

Fire broke
Too burning to cool
Quick to wrath
Substance too lovely
To be sold
People burn wishing
They would awaken not
Woken up to the substance
In death dreams succumb

My friends, people, families
Forever dry and gone
The floating fire
Too burning to float.
