Flood Of Sorrows Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Flood Of Sorrows

It is...
Touching.
It is.
Endearing.
And eye moisturizing to hear,
It openly confessed and expressed.
That after decades; centuries.
Of an intent meant to disparage,
A selected group of people...
Enduring oppression to suppress them.
With a determination to leave,
Hearts broken and to receive...
Just for the enjoyment of it.

Now...
In the year 2020,
As the heights of the most,
Despicable scenes of murder committed.
In broad daylight seen on TV screens.
Repeatedly.
Is a doing allowed.
By those given the authority,
To do as they please.
Publicly.
Yet...
Can no longer disguise or hide,
The deceiving of their evil.
Or wicked misdeeds.

Although...
Attempts are made to put a bandage,
On a flood of sorrows.
Needing much more than the act of empathy.
To prevent this flood they have created.
From arriving at their own doorsteps to feel,
The effects of what they have done!
No one can disbelieve to ignore anymore.
Without looking at themselves.
Revealing what it is they have come to hate!
