Flower as Savior
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Down came a feathery little soul
Of rainbow wings and slender bill
After darting here and darting there
Towards the ground spiraled on wings weary
And lost crowds amongst in a mall
Looking fatigued and starving, she sat still
Apprehending her to be crushed beneath carts and feet
Cupped her in my hands and rushed for the exit
So soft and so small was she against my palms
Wondered I if her wings could surmount the qualms
Then unto my fancy ventured out I
To save this little soul sensitive and coy
Looking here and there for flowers
On plain and hill and in lonely dells
Found daffodils, daisies and roses
In an orchard that beckoned me and little soul with tenderness
Finding her too weak to perch, in my palm I cupped her
And held her up to each flower to drink the nectar
Slowly she perked up cheering happiness and hope
To see her going up and up and up
Letting loose her claws on my finger, the humming bird
Spreading her wings on her own to heaven good
And I saw sweet miracle of flowers as savior
And charming my heart to sing and fold, serene, her wings weary
sorry, i am here after a long spell.... it was due to some private problems.................and when i read this beautiful poem of yours i just got pleased so much that i couldn't speak anything about it....this is what we call genuine beauty.........really nice........................thanks
A beautiful poem! I visualize the whole scene.... a tender tired humming bird spiralling down to the earth and you sheltering it in your cupped hands and letting it feed from flowers! Once it is able to take itself on wings, you letting her out of your clasp and enjoying it soaring into higher altitudes! Lovely!

Deepak ji, I loved the poem for its tenderness and beauty. I imagine the little bird in its freedom has flown into its own heaven.
