Flowers By The River And A Boat Poem by Gautami Phookan

Flowers By The River And A Boat

Red poppies in a field 'mid green stalks,
Where bathed in gold I often see you roam.
Across three fields- red earth, then a river;
And it wends through the woods carving a sliver.
Flowers by the marge in their grassy home;
Breaking their slumber, while time slow walks.

I rest where mine boat is moor'd at the beach.
Cool wind, the shade of a silver willow.
Shall watch the moon come out of the deep,
When the earth is softly paled in its sleep.
A sudden lurch, and a whisper low.
Then our two hearts beating each to each.

Flower by the river and a boat. I envision the landscape like a painting. I have loved this poem and still do. :) G.
