Flying Fish Fly Escape Predators Poem by Terence George Craddock

Flying Fish Fly Escape Predators

streamlined torpedo torpedo running under water
generating great velocity sliding through resistant water
gaining preflight speed about 37 miles 60 kilometres;
per hour head angling upward sighting light glint surface
four-winged flying fish breaks target top film surface
taxiing begins by rapidly beating tail while still beneath surface;
leap into air reaching heights attaining over 4 feet 1.2 meters
maximum gliding distances up to 655 feet 200 meters

flying fish breaks film target top surface;
taxiing rapidly beating tail still beneath surface
a leap of faith may span great distances
flying fish sky falling back near sea's surface;
flap tail taxi without fully returning to home water
rule current waves flying fish ski ocean water
flying fish ski flying taxi stretching records;
stretching out dancing flights with consecutive glides

spanning distances of up to 1,312 feet 400 meters
flying fish did you evolve remarkable gliding abilities;
to escape mackerel marlin tuna swordfish predators?
Do predators give up chase when into air you race?
What rocket fuel do flying fish fuel on to power flight?
Sustenance is sustained with plankton a variety of foods
flying fish foolishly are sea creatures attracted to light
fishermen cleverly take advantage with substantial results;

fill canoes with enough water to sustain flying fish
not enough to allow catch to propel themselves out
capture flying fish by the dozens affix a luring light;
at night to siren signal flying fish to fly to their fate
currently no protection status protects star flying fish
corporate merchant fleet don't fish flying fish till extinct!
