Flying In Style Poem by Debora Short

Flying In Style

Rating: 2.6

Unusual and yet so ordinary
Nearly
Every household owns one

Some are angled and synthetic
Crumbs in corners
Collected completely and simply

Some jobs require designs
For cleaning out yesterday’s ashes
Proclaiming dust will be so greatly diminished

And then there are those
Handcrafted beauties
Displayed
At regional craft fairs

I watched the broom-maker
Create one
Physically challenged
And wheel chair bound
He created
Artistry
From gnarled and well knotted limbs
Selecting
From straws
Many hued
Intricate
Weavings
In colored cotton
Signed his creations

Each broom
Tagged
With magic

Long lines
Waited

Mostly
Ladies in dark pointed hats
Hoping
To
Test drive
These lovely new luxury models

Might be the answer to the yearly MOT which we have here in the UK. The Ministry Of Transport test, checking that your vehicle is road worthy. At least one could fly as the crow flies, which would be much quicker. Lovely poem with a hint of Halloween about it. A delight to read. Nicely unusual. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX
