Flying Serpent! Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Flying Serpent!

Of the great and dreadful days ahead!
but, choose what is right.

Forty days and forty nights!
And, the wars were held back.

It is allowed,
And it is noted in your land because of your culture.

How can you love someone that you don't even know?
Think about it.

Of the things noted by the Red Sea,
For you are here for a purpose; so, use your mind wisely.

Terror and sorrow!
With bows and arrows aiming at us.

The hunted gazelle!
With mighty signs and wonders.

Out of the serpent's root cam an adder,
However, righteousness is above food and drink.

Rest from the terrors around you!
And, rest from your sorrows.

A fiery flying serpent!
Each man with his lover and each man with his own house.

A fiery serpent!
Puffed up with pride.

A fiery serpent!
Do not be wise in your own conceits.

Of the seed of love,
Do not take more than you can eat.

Hungry and thirsty,
Poorly clothed.

Of the river, the sea, the lake and the path of your mind;
But, i am like a spetacle to the whole world.

Why condemn the men to death when, you are also a sinner?
For, you are now puffed up with pride.
