Footprints Poem by Jasmine Zhang

Footprints

Stepping from Christmas to New Year
footprints hollow and deep remain in the snow
cares of the past year
linger between hometown and here
engraved in my memory

in the moonlight
pawprints like plums carved in the snow
to where the green grass is more verdant
on the vernal equinox
the first Sunday after the full moon
with lilies in bloom
hopping Bunnies carrying Easter eggs
word of new life has come

before my house
wintry dreams aroused by the morning sunshine
on the winding path paved with pebbles
dazzling beams awaken footprints one by one
appearing like flowers along their way
leading towards spring
as winter jasmine blossoms before the daffodils
