For Eden Poem by Molly SmithKramer

For Eden

I cannot hear her cry, so I will answer the cries of others.
I cannot encourage her to crawl, so I will help others to walk.
I cannot listen to her speak, so I will speak for others.
I cannot teach her ABCs, so I will educate those around me.
I cannot watch her live, so I will live, with twice as much passion, for her.
I cannot swoon over her accomplishments, so I will make her proud of mine.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My beautiful daughter, Eden, was born still in March 2012 after 38 weeks of complication-free pregnancy. In the months following her death, I struggled with finding a way to honor her short, but profound life. In addition to becoming an advocate for pregnancy and infant loss awareness, I began making remembrance bracelets for fellow bereaved mothers. To date, I have made and distributed over 500 “Eden’s Wings” bracelets, free of charge, to grieving mothers all over the world. Through my endeavors, I find peace in knowing that Eden’s existence has touched the lives of many.
