For Mandy-Lee Poem by Lisa Pringle

For Mandy-Lee

Rating: 5.0

Although we have spent all this time apart,
Please know that you’ve had a place in my heart.
A girl of fifteen you were when I saw you last –
That means an absence of 23 years, now in our past.
There is so much that we ought to have shared,
I could have showed you how much I really cared.
Were you ever lonely, scared or sad?
Could I have been the one to dispel the bad?
Big sisters are supposed to keep bad dreams at bay,
Big sisters are also supposed to stay.
You met the man of your dreams and fell in love,
You got married and now have a baby dove.
Yes, I have a niece that I don’t even know,
How could I have been so silly and so slow?
We have so much to catch up on and to share,
And Mandy-Lee, from now on, I promise,
I will always be there.
