For Many Months Now Poem by Francis Duggan

For many months now he has been struggling to cope
But he is one who never gives up on hope
You never hear him say his best days are gone
He just gets on with life and keeps on keeping on
His wife left him for another man and took the children through no fault of his own
And since his marriage breakup such heartache he has known
But with disappointment he has learned to live
And he is forgiving and her he does forgive
A few months ago the factory he worked in closed down
And few job opportunities on his side of the town
But those who try hardest eventually do win
And to disappointment he will never give in
And he firmly believe in a near future day
That the Lady of Luck will be smiling his way.
