For Most Mothers Poem by Kishore Asthana

For Most Mothers

We do not get gold coins
For everything we do for love
But there is a vault
Beyond our ken
Where treasure,
More lustrous and long-lasting
Accumulates
And stays with us
Life after life

Some of us can see this,
In the smile of those
Who do everything for love
And your vault my dear, your vault, I see
Already overflows
And now,
Even the angels
Come to applaud.
