For My Love Poem by Gert Strydom

For My Love

(after G. A. Watermeyer)

While everything around me does fall apart,
you alone remain my fortress and my castle

and in the depth of my own sorrow,
you do appear out of the naught as my support,

you are the one in whose consolation I do hide,
while the winds of destruction howl around me,

you understand and know my pain,
you are the one where all of it does disappear,

you are my fortress under the merciless sun,
the one where I do hide in a world of concrete.
